Deschutes Citizens for Law and Order has been committed to upholding Constitutional Law in our community, and part of that is holding elected officials accountable. We provided a source for local citizens to report on breaches by their local government officials, so that it can be looked into.

On November 11, 2024 The Bend City Mayor Melanie Kebler put out a statement on the Election:

After a few reports from local citizens, DCLO attempted to contact the Mayor for a few additional details. An email was sent to mkebler@bendoregon.gov on December 09,2024:

A follow up email was sent on 12/11/24. With still no response, DCLO took one last attempt to contact the Mayor:

While waiting for a response from the Bend City Mayor, DCLO took a quick look at the Bend City Council website.

We found it notable that within the Bend City Council Goals, they say they are “committed to serving everyone equitably.” That they will “strive to achieve equity and justice for everyone in Bend.”

But yet within the city of Bend, there are many that seem to have been not only left out, but also deeply offended by the Mayor’s Statement.

The following statistics show that the Mayor has issued a statement going directly against her constituents, by the thousands. These are the statistics from the most recent election:

In the City of Bend there are:

- Republicans: 20,816 voters (16,172 households)

- Democrats: 34,797 voters (28,773 households)

- Non-Affiliated Voters: 37.062 voters (32,005 households)

Most importantly, until DCLO receives the proper facts and official incident reports of the Mayor’s alleged attacks, we can not be in agreement with or support her statement.

Furthermore, as an elected representative of the Bend City residents and tax-payers, we do hereby petition the Mayor to provide the requested information, or to retract her statement and allegations along with an apology to the tens of thousands of constituents she has offended.
